Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Georgetown Office To Support “Moving Stories”

(Washington, DC, – October 17, 2011) – The Georgetown Office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is proud to announce it will now be supporting Moving Stories, a nonprofit organization which seeks to provide local elementary school children with age-appropriate books.

As sellers prepare to relocate, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s sales associates in the Georgetown office will encourage sellers to donate books to Moving Stories. Volunteers will then provide organizational services before donating the books to Reading Partner’s libraries at local elementary schools in need.

“One of the biggest issues we have with sellers who are downsizing is, what to do with their book collections,” said Tom Bryan, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Branch Vice President, Georgetown. “Many consignment shops and auction houses do not want them. Now we will have an organized method to offer all of our sellers the opportunity to pass these books on to needed schools.”

Moving Stories was established in 2009 as a simple book drive in the Holton-Arms School community for the D.C. public schools. The overwhelming success of the drive led founder Nathalie Weiss to organize and execute annual book drives for inner city elementary schools.

“Moving Stories is excited about partnering with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage because of the importance the company places on helping the community,” said Weiss. “With this partnership, we can provide underprivileged children with resources that they may not have had access to before.”
