Moving Stories began in 2009 as a book drive in the Holton-Arms School community to support D.C. public schools. Upon the success of the first drive, founder, Nathalie Weiss, organized and executed an annual book drive for local inner city elementary schools. Nathalie learned from her book drives that demand for children’s literature is high, and the supply of gently used books readily available. Nathalie, along with classmates Julia Hinsch and Mary Waller, now run Moving Stories in order to foster the literacy of local children.
Moving Stories partners with the nonprofits Reading Partners and Teach for America, as well as the Coldwell Banker Georgetown Office to collect stories to donate literary resources to Washington’s disadvantaged youth.
